The Almaty city branch of the state corporation "Government for Citizens" announced that 19,778 marriages have been registered in the megacity. The average age of couples getting married is 27 for men and 25 for women.
Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year, 4,429 families have dissolved. Young couples primarily file for divorce, as noted by the state corporation.
It was highlighted that about 40% of couples who filed for divorce in Almaty changed their minds. A representative from the civil registration department shared:
“We strive to preserve the marriage, giving time to reflect and express their thoughts. Out of every 10 applications submitted, three to four couples continue their family life, opting not to proceed with the divorce. We consider this a result of our efforts.”
