North Kazakhstan region has emerged as a leader in low food prices.

The Ministry of Trade announced that the East Kazakhstan region has become the area with the most affordable prices for eleven socially significant food products, which are lower than the national average prices, according to Bizmedia.kz.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics, a kilogram of wheat flour in Petropavlovsk is priced at 150 tenge, which is one-third lower than the average price across the country, where flour sells for 224 tenge.

The price of carrots in North Kazakhstan is also lower: they cost 130 tenge per kilogram, which is 14% less than in other regions, where the price is 152 tenge.

The most affordable price for C1 category eggs is also recorded in this region — a dozen sells for 462 tenge, while the average price in Kazakhstan is 545 tenge.

Cottage cheese can be purchased here for 1622 tenge per kilogram, which is a quarter less than the average national price of 2172 tenge.

Additionally, potatoes in the North Kazakhstan region are 14% cheaper than in other parts of the country.

Beef is priced at 2388 tenge per kilogram, which is 7.2% lower than the national average cost.

Bread in this region is also cheaper by 17.4%, and pastries by 19.6%.

Among other products with lower prices are buckwheat, butter, onions, and cabbage.

According to Kanat Zhenisbekuly, head of the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection in North Kazakhstan, over the past eleven months of the current year, 134 trading enterprises were held administratively accountable for violating the maximum retail markup of 15%.

Most of them, 118 entities, received warnings, while 16 entrepreneurs were required to pay fines.
