"Not an accident." Aurelia's relatives are demanding that the investigation continues.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has closed the criminal case regarding the death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl in Astana. The police believe there is no evidence of a crime. However, the girl's relatives disagree, insisting that the case should remain open until key questions are answered.
«Не случайность». Семья Аурелии требует продолжения расследования.

Fourteen-year-old Aurelia died in September. Her body was discovered in a deserted building in the Baikonur district of the capital. The police immediately suggested that it was an accident. However, the girl's relatives have insisted from the beginning that it was a deliberate murder. According to them, there were no unusual behaviors exhibited by her on the day she went missing. She returned home from school and asked to go out after classes, but she stayed out much later than usual. Late in the evening, police found her body in an abandoned kindergarten building near the home where the schoolgirl lived.

Three months later, the official cause of Aurelia's death was determined to be poisoning from a gas mixture, which allegedly caused cardiac arrest. Overall, police stated that it resembled suicide, which is why a criminal case was opened under the charge of "driving to suicide."

"During the investigation of the criminal case, all investigative actions were conducted. No signs of violent death were found. [The case] was closed due to lack of evidence of a crime," noted the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Sanjar Adilov.

The girl's relatives categorically disagree with this conclusion. For several months, they have been seeking the truth and naming specific individuals who may be involved. Aurelia's family reports that bruises and hematomas were found on her body, and the knuckles on her hands were bloodied. The relatives of the schoolgirl believe that she tried to resist before her death.

The deceased's sister, Karina Aleksandryuk, posted pictures of the injuries on her personal social media page. According to her, all of Aurelia's clothing was covered in dust and dirt. Therefore, she believes that the girl's body was moved to the abandoned kindergarten building after her death, where it was later discovered. Karina insists that the criminal case cannot be closed because the family has not received any clear explanations from the police.

"As a victim, I was not informed that the case of my deceased sister was closed, and I was not provided with any documents. Many investigative actions are still pending due to the fact that the repeated examination is not ready; therefore, the case is still under investigation. There are no grounds to conclude investigative actions and close the case, as the investigation has not been fully carried out legally," says Karina Aleksandryuk.

According to Karina, the initial conclusion from the forensic expert cited an unspecified illness as the cause of death, despite the fact that fourteen-year-old Aurelia had no health issues. The relatives were not informed about the protocol for the forensic examination from the beginning, which compelled them to conduct an additional investigation. The results may shed light on what happened. Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs did not have the right to publicly announce the cessation of the investigation, according to the relatives of the deceased schoolgirl. They are determined to continue fighting, as they believe that Aurelia's death was not an accident.
