During the meeting, the Deputy Minister expressed sincere gratitude to the diplomat for his efforts in strengthening Kazakh-Italian strategic cooperation.
"He also emphasized the significant contribution to organizing the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Italy in January 2024 and the activation of trade and economic relations – since 2021, the trade turnover between the countries has increased from 10 to 17 billion US dollars," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.
The fruitful activities of the ambassador were also noted in conducting visits to Kazakhstan by members of the Italian government, the opening of the Italian Cultural Center in Almaty, the enhancement of active dialogue in higher education, the launch of direct flights between Italy and Kazakhstan, as well as several other significant events.
Alberti's contribution to the development of relations was recognized with gratitude from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who awarded him the "Barys" badge.
In turn, the Italian ambassador thanked the Kazakh side for the continuous support and warm reception, expressing hope for the continued strengthening of Kazakh-Italian strategic cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reminded that Italy is one of Kazakhstan's largest trading partners, accounting for 14.4% of the total volume of foreign trade turnover in 2023. From January to October 2024, the bilateral trade turnover reached 17.4 billion US dollars (exports – 16.4 billion, imports – 1 billion). Since 2005, the volume of direct foreign investments from Italy to Kazakhstan has exceeded 7.6 billion US dollars.
Previously, Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev spoke about the reasons why Kazakhstan citizens remain in Syria. He noted that approximately 33 citizens of our country, mostly women, reside there.
